Today's session at the smart club was very interesting. I will quickly write about it before I go back home. I have plans for the day as well.
I was the co-ordinator for today's session. I didn't do a very good job but I didn't do very badly either. Get prepared for the information which includes a bit of humour as well.
I was there forty-five minutes ahead of time. I woke up, took a bath, dressed up and left. On my way I thought I should have looked at the mirror and made my hair. But I was already out of the house. But I think I should have done that. I'll tell you why later.
I bought the cookies on the way. I went to the venue. There are two doors, one for entrance and the other for exit. I checked the entrance door and saw that it wasn't open. When we were approaching time and the one who was to open didn't come I was afraid it may be like last week. But actually he was already there and sitting in the dark. I had not checked the exit door which had been open all the while.
I wasn't very smooth with my co-ordination. But I didn't do too badly, I hope.
The first speech was on the 1950 Treaty and the Indo-Nepalese Open border. The speaker was Ojaswi Ghimire. I don't know if he had enough time to prepare on the predecided topic because, he replaced Apeckchya in the last moment. But he did a good job. No one had any questions for him.
Sudip was the self decided speaker. He chose a topic related to gender and gender equlaity. Well, after everyone else asked their questions, I took off my co-ordinator's hat and imagined I was one of the people sitting on the chair and put my own question. It was also because he was talking about athletics and the fact that women are going to overtake men in a hundred years. I don't think that can happen even in a thousand years. But that was my question. People weren't happy with it. Maybe I could have said that later in person.
I asked Robs for the topic for our impromptu speaker. He gave the topic: SAARC summit and hopes for Nepal. Prajwol knew the topic only after he was ready to speak. I think I should have informed him five minutes early. He said that was why he only spoke for one minute less. But then again, Prajwal still did a very good job and he sounded like a prepared speaker.
The commentators then put their comments. The gramarians, the time keeper and Ah counter also gave their presentations. I was particularly impressed with the way Ashta spoke. Everyone did a good job.
I didn't invite any observer to keep their views. I handed over to next week's co-ordinator Astha. However, Mr Rajesh, did speak and gave his views about our session. So, we did get the observations too.
Next week, I'm going to be an impromptu speaker. I wonder if I'll be able to speak impromptu about a topic for five minutes. That will be a tough ask. But there's nothing wrong in trying.
After the tea, Apeckchya and Manogya gave their presentation on moderation skills. We are soon going to have moderation sessions in the smart club. This is a sign of good things to come.
Another good thing was that I could hear Robs' voice after a long time. I realised that his voice comes from inside and I can hear him after his mouth has moved. I love this man's voice. It sounds a bit artificial at times but it is very good indeed.
Talking to him was good as well.
But now let me come to something I discovered while Apeckchhya and Manogya were presenting. I realized that I had worn my tee-shirt backwards. I only realised it after Prajwol, who was sitting next to me informed me with a written message.
People hadn't noticed. I had walked all the way with that tee shirt. At least I had a bag with me. But it was really funny.
When they were talking about how a moderator should dress up, I said that the moderator should at least look at the mirror before leaving home and I informed everybody that I was wearing my shirt backwards. I ran to the bathroom, and put it on correctly.
So, this is all that happened at the smart club today. I may as well write the names of the roles that different people had today before closing this entry.
