I was again the first person to reach and was at least fifteen minutes earlier than everyone else. Today the attendance was very low. Only 12 of us were present in the first session. Apeckshya and Prajwol joined us in the second session.
Binny Bhandari had taken over as the co-ordinator of the session from Sushil in midweek. She did a very good job. I couldn't but be impressed. She was able to say more than just inform the name of the speakers. In the introduction session today I said my name and then said that I was looking for a job. Only Sanju Nepal said anything more than her name. I think all of us should say at least one new thing about us during our introductions every weeek.
The first speaker today was Krishna Neupane. I was his commentator. So, I'm in a better position writing about it. For a start, Krishna was beating about the bush. His introduction took more than half his allotted time and he took forty percent more time than he was allotted. He couldn't really complete all the content. However, it did seem that he had prepared well. He was the one to put forward this topic for this week and the topic was more of a self decided topic.
The real self decided speaker this week was Reeta Thapa. Reeta chose the topic English craziness. It was just a joke about how there are some crazy abnormalities in the English language. It included all those things we hear in jokes about English being a funny language. While Krishna took two extra minutes, Reeta took more than two minutes less. I feel that she should have worked more on the content and maybe chosen another topic. However, she is bold as always to go and give her opinions. She is loud and clear. She is a good public speaker overall.
Dev Kumar Sunwar was the impromptu speaker this week. He did a very good job. He was given the topic five minutes in advance. He had to speak on whether or not prostitution should be legalized.
Sanju and Sagar were the other two commentators. Sanju was supportive of her friend's speech. Sagar came up there without any paper and delivered his comments very well.
Our grammarian today was Bijaya Karanjit. I'm going to miss her as she won't be here the next two weeks. But she can come to this site and check what happened. She spotted out the grammatical errors that our speakers and commentators made. Since the word comment can be both a noun and a verb, I think we can give comments. Well, we can always go and check the dictionary. I feel like there were many other grammatical errors she failed to capture. But the job of the grammarian is very difficult for one person to handle as I found out last week.
The Ah! counter was Manogya. And in the one minute of my comments, I only had one Ah! and one pause.
Manish Joshi was the time keeper today. Even though the time keeper doesn't have too much of the opportunity to show his worth, Manish Joshi did his job well.
The observer today was Sabina Shrestha. She has been an observer for two weeks now. Last week, she was surprised when she was called forward to speak. But this week, she was informed in the beginning of the program. She had told her friend she didn't want to speak before coming in. But all she said was that she was very pleased to be an observer. It would have been lovely to listen to her views about the sessions. That was her opportunity to speak.
Our Chairperson gave his overall critical analysis. All of us were laughing and he wanted us to thank him for making us laugh. I'd say that he might have to say sorry for making us laugh. However, we have to applaud this man for his confidence. He has a lot to improve grammatically. But the dedication is there. We aren't going to improve until we speak. I hope one day he improves on this aspect as well. I hope he doesn't spend too much time beating about the bush. He needs to come to the point directly. Mr. Suman did a good job to be fair.
I'll write about the moderation session in the reply to this thread. Everyone is welcome to add or question things I've written and will write.
