Smart Club 2005
Today was the last smart club session of the year. On October 1, 2005, I attended smart club for the first time. Today is December 31. During the last 92 days we have had 14 Saturdays. We had a two-week break during Dashain and on two of the weeks, we didn't have any smart club session because of programs elsewhere. I attended each one of the 10 sessions so far and I have had a role to play on each one of them.
On the first day, I was an observer and then went up to express my joy about joining the Smart Club.
On the second day, I was a commentator for one of the three speakers.
On the third day, I had decided to become the Ah! counter and our session had to be held in a different forgettable venue.
On the fourth day, I was the co-ordinator.
On the fifth day, I was the impromptu speaker and had to speak on the Ongoing Ceasefire.
On the sixth day, I became a grammarian.
On the seventh day, I became a commentator for the second time.
On the eighth day, I became a timekeeper.
On the ninth day, I became a grammarian for the second time.
Today, I was the chairperson.
So, I have remembered it all.
We have had five moderation skills sessions so far on the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninth sessions that I have attended.
The first two moderation sessions were the ones in which Apeckshya and Manogya presented on moderation skill itself.
In the next three, I took up the role of commentator and moderator respectively in the last two sessions. I am one of the paper presenters for next week and for the first time I have no role during the first session. If anyone is absent, I am ready to take over.
Talking about attendance at the smart club, today's attendence was overwhelming. I hadn't seen so many people at the smart club since the first ever session which was also the only time when I was late to reach the place.
Have the ten weeks really worked for me? I sometimes feel like there's nothing in the world that can make me into a good public speaker. There's nothing in the world that can make me less lazy and work towards self-development.
These ten weeks have been a great opportunity to meet a lot of new friendly people. I have improved to some extent. This process will continue. But it has also been difficult at times to stop being sad or annoyed with the actions of some of the people out there. I think I am by nature, a person who can never mix up with others no matter how hard I really want to.
I tried to recall my roles in the ten smart club sessions and I think I've got it all right. There may be a few errors but they can be verified from the entries that I have posted at this forum after all the sessions.
