I was going back to the smart club after missing a session for the first time since I started going there.
The co-ordinator was Rup Bahadur Sunar. He's been taking roles in the smart club quite actively. He did a fairly good job as the co-ordinator of today's session.
The pre-decided topic was "The Perfect Holi Celebration." Nischal Sharma was the speaker. He used only a small fraction of his five-minute speech talking about the perfect holi celebration. However, everything else he said about holi was also good. He was as serious today as he usually is.
The self-decided speaker was Rukh Gurung. He probably became a little nervous in his first time as speaker. It looked like he had difficulty recalling the speech which he had memorised. However, there was something in his speech which makes one feel he has what it takes to speak well.
The impromptu speaker was Suddhumna. I forgot his last name. This is because he's been absent for quite a few weeks. He got to speak today because Prajwal was absent without any information. I would have loved to have spoken instead. The topic given to him was a topic I'd have loved to speak on. Suddhumna handled his topic pretty well. Given that it was an impromptu speech, it was very good.
The commentators today were Dev Kumar Sunuwar, Manish Joshi, and Binni Bhandari. Manish Joshi seems to have gained a lot of confidence in his speech over the last few weeks. Dev Kumar seems to have done the same. Binni was also good. This means we had three good commentators today.
The grammarain was just as good. Apeckshya did her job very well. The second grammarian was absent without notice.
The time-keeper today was Rajiv Joshi while Astha Joshi counted the 'ah's. She didn't repeat the times when she told the numbers which made the numbers lose their meaning.
The first of two observers said that he had been keeping his ears open for an opportunity to speak for three weeks. He siad that he had heard about the club six months ago and still not joined it till a few weeks ago. He feels guilty about it now. The second observer didn't speak much. He just came up and introduced himself once again. I still don't remember his name.
The chairperson was Sagar Mudvari. He had a nice closing speech. He referred two books for all of us to read. His observations were good but the way he spoke was even better. He concluded the first session.
Suddhumna gave his reflections. Ojaswi proposed a couple of things.
We broke for tea before resuming with the moderation session.
Binni Bhandari was the moderator. She invited Reeta Thapa to give her presentation after introducing both speakers. However, Binni stopped Reeta and then introduced the two commentators before letting Reeta start. Reeta's presentation didn't have any visual aids and didn't invite any participation of the audience. What she said didn't have a firm conclusion. She seemed to be in favour of some corporal punishment.
The next paper presenter was Sushil Shreshtha. His slides were absolutely fantastic. He did a very good job with his presentation. His presentation had examples, and his view was that there is no way in which corporal punishment can be justified in eduction.
None of the presenters talked about corporal punishment outside schools. The group discussion went on smoothly. The moderator did control it to some extent. She then invited the two commentators who gave their comments on the two presenters and the moderators. However, the moderator didn't give any concluding remarks before finishing the session. Maybe, she was in a big hurry go get back home.
